Biography
Who is Shota?
I have been asking myself this question and I feel I can finally answer this for those interested. I come from a childhood where I was mentally and physically abused. I never understood why nor did I think it would ever get better. It wasn't until I met someone and we locked eyes. This was the turning point which I stumbled upon a spiritual journey. This journey took me through to relive the pain I held deep inside. Those who I thought were my friends fell away from my life. Many things did. However, this brought me to being lead to write about my life in poems. But something told me to try to reach others. So with the help of a friend, he urged me to turn it into music.
I took his advice and published my music. I use AI for the voice because growing up, I was told my voice was worthless. Not to mention through the chokeholds and beatings to the throat, I felt my voice sounded horrible to hear. I may eventually sing but I think this is what AI was created for. To help give voice to those who can't speak. So if you choose not to listen to my music after this truth, I completely understand. However, I only want to show my lyrics and music choices.
I am hoping you enjoy my music. My first album 'The Spark' is about finding your own light and keeping it alive through all one has been. Whether it is a past like mine or whatever one goes through. Don't let others try to tell you, you can't achieve your dreams/goals. The other albums are to showcase how I can write for other genres but overall, describing my feelings to relate to others.
My most recent album coming soon, "Escucha Nuestro Llanto" describes my native/indigenous heritage. It has been lost to me but according to my ancestry DNA, I have 48% native blood. Adding to this, my spiritual journey has led me to a vision, dream-like state, where I met an ancestor and they said, "I must tell the story of our bloodline. We transcend all tribes and must unite people to understand not to forget our roots." So, I wrote songs about different tribes and how they are resilient despite all their losses.
My overall goal is not to offend anyone with my music, especially as a songwriter. My goal is to tell my story through music and hope it resonates with you on some level. To know, you aren't alone in the things you go through. Like my ancestors told me, "I walk with you". So, I, Shota85, walk with you. I don't want to be famous but simply write away. Hoping you take some wisdom from my lyrics.
Remember, those who told you bad things, they aren't correct. Because if I can choose to love and carry light despite everything I've been through, you can too.
